Meet Dr. Powers
Martha was born and raised in the Commonwealth, attended Virginia’s public schools, and graduated from three universities in Virginia. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, her master’s from Longwood University, and completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Martha has over 30 years of experience in K-12 public education, serving more than 11 years as a building-level administrator and division Director of Instruction. From 2023 to the inception of Cardinal Education, Martha supporte division-level leaders and principals in her role as School Quality Specialist at the Virginia Department of Education. She is currently teaching and supervising internships for Averett University’s Administration and Supervision program.
Martha has presented professional learning sessions at the school, division, and state levels, including the Virginia Middle School Association, the Virginia Association of School Personnel Administrators, and JMU’s Virginia Principal Support Program. Martha is a Nationally Certified School Improvement Specialist.
